Hi, I have been a teacher for 31 years.

REFLECTION 2
This module has helped me think about using standards, CFO’s and formative assessment in the following ways:
· To create an effective unit and related lessons
· To assess students ‘ progress and needs
· To enhance student participation
· It has helped me to think from general to specific to encourage creative and critical thinking.
It provides opportunities for more student input in assessment and planning.
Careful planning also ensures that unit plans are focused on SOL and national standards.

The student samples demonstrated the level of understanding of the unit and content questions. It provided a showcase for them to display their knowledge and for the teacher to assess that knowledge. The 21st century skills include use of the internet for research and communication. Collaboration with other students was evident. They had to organize and make plans to meet the rubric requirements. They had to have a plan to present to their peers, what they found. Rubric and checklists provide a way to perform individual and self assessments.
